An event dedicated to World Environment Day on June 5, organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, was held in Samur-Yalama National Park on the theme “Reduce Plastic Use: Local Efforts, Global Impacts”. Within the framework of the event, the social project “Card to ART” was presented, which will be organized by “Tamiz Shahar” OJSC and supported by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Dost Inclusive Development and Creativity Center, “Yapı Kredi Bank Azerbaijan”, “Global Media Group”, “Araz” supermarket chain, “ECOhub” and the Azerbaijan Journalists Network Public Union. The aim of the project, which serves to prevent the disposal of expired and useless plastic cards into nature, is to contribute to environmental protection by bringing together parties that use plastic cards in their activities. According to statistics, approximately 16 million plastic cards are in use in Azerbaijan, and more than 30 billion in the world. These cards turn into waste at the end of their useful life, negatively affecting the environment. It takes hundreds of years for this type of waste to decompose and mix with the soil. The “Card to ART” social project aims to prevent this problem to a certain extent. Plastic cards collected in special boxes placed in various locations within the framework of the project will be sent to creative individuals and transformed into various works of art with their touch. The prepared art samples will be presented to visitors at the “Card to ART” exhibition to be organized at the “From Waste to Art” museum, established at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Traditionally, during the “Card to ART” social project, which is planned to be held annually, all parties using plastic cards in their services can join the project and provide support in accordance with the corporate responsibility program.
